The direct answer

Kits are the only topic you can finish on a quiet Tuesday. A bag you have never opened is a box of surprises. A plan nobody has walked is a PDF. The useful unit is: kit + plan + a drill you have actually run.

Three kit layers show up across the manuals. Level 1: on-body (water, light, blade, ferro, whistle, copies of IDs). Level 2: bag you can grab (72-hour water and food, radio, spare clothes, copies of documents). Level 3: home or vehicle cache (water in litres, sanitation, tools, a way to cook when the grid is down). Contents change by climate.

Three kit layers — what each one is for

If you only build one, build Level 1 and a water plan. Fancy bags without water are costumes.

Level 1 — on body
Water, light, cutting tool, ferro rod, whistle, copies of ID.
Level 2 — grab bag
72 hours water + calories, radio, clothes, documents, sanitation.
Level 3 — cache
Home or vehicle: stored water, cooking without gas, tools.
Plan
Out-of-area contact, two rally points, who grabs which bag. Walk it once.
