4. Survival Techniques and Physical Risk

The App describes techniques for educational purposes. It cannot account for your personal physical condition, local environmental conditions, available materials, weather, or the many other variables that affect the appropriateness and safety of any technique. You assume full responsibility for assessing whether any technique described in the App is appropriate and safe for your specific situation.

5. Plant Identification and Foraging

Plant identification content in the App is provided for educational purposes only. Misidentification of plants can cause serious illness or death. The App's plant identification guidance is not a substitute for expert botanical knowledge, field experience, or in-person training with a qualified foraging instructor.

Never consume any wild plant based solely on information from this App. Use the Universal Edibility Test described in the App only as a last resort in a true survival situation. Always err on the side of caution when uncertain about plant identification.

6. Navigation and GPS Tools

Navigation tools within the App, including the offline maps, GPS display, compass, and clinometer, are provided as reference aids only. GPS accuracy varies by device and environment. Offline maps may be outdated. The compass requires a calibrated magnetometer and may be affected by nearby metal or electromagnetic interference.

Do not rely on the App as your sole navigation tool in any situation where getting lost could result in harm. Always carry appropriate backup navigation tools (paper maps, dedicated compass) and inform others of your route before entering remote terrain.

7. Communication Features

The mesh networking, Safety Burst, and Dead Man's Switch features are provided as supplementary tools only. These features may fail due to hardware limitations, environmental conditions, software errors, battery depletion, or network unavailability. They are NOT a substitute for carrying a dedicated emergency communication device (satellite communicator, PLB, EPIRB), informing others of your plans, or calling emergency services when available.

8. No Guarantee of Outcomes

Following any guidance in the App does not guarantee a safe or positive outcome. Survival, emergency preparedness, and crisis management are complex domains in which outcomes depend on countless factors beyond the scope of any single reference tool. The Last Manual makes no guarantee, representation, or warranty that any technique, method, or guidance described in the App will be effective, appropriate, or safe in your situation.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, The Last Manual, its directors, employees, agents, and contributors shall not be liable for any injury, illness, death, property damage, or other loss of any kind arising from your use of or reliance on the App or its content.
