Acceptable Use Policy

1. Purpose and Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of The Last Manual mobile application (the "App"), the website at thelastmanual.com (the "Site"), and all features, tools, and content made available through them. This AUP supplements our Terms of Service and should be read in conjunction with it.

Violations of this AUP may result in immediate termination of your licence to use the App, legal action, or referral to appropriate authorities.

2. Permitted Uses

You are permitted to use the App for the following purposes:

• ✓Personal, non-commercial emergency preparedness and survival reference
• ✓Educational use for your own learning
• ✓Use on devices that you personally own or control
• ✓Sharing PDF exports you generate from the App with family members, friends, or community groups for non-commercial preparedness purposes, provided that the App watermark and attribution remain intact
• ✓Downloading map packs for offline use in regions relevant to your personal needs
• ✓Using the mesh networking, Safety Burst, and Dead Man's Switch features for genuine personal safety purposes
• ✓Using the App as a reference resource during or after a genuine emergency

3. Prohibited Uses — Content

You must not use the App's content in the following ways:

• ✕Copy, reproduce, republish, upload, post, transmit, or distribute any content from the App for any commercial purpose without our prior written consent
• ✕Incorporate App content into any competing product, service, application, or publication
• ✕Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract content from the App using automated tools or manual methods at scale
• ✕Create derivative works based on App content without explicit written authorisation
• ✕Remove, alter, or obscure any copyright notice, trademark, watermark, or attribution from exported or shared content
• ✕Claim authorship or ownership of any App content
• ✕Use App content to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models without written permission
• ✕Translate or adapt App content for distribution without written permission

4. Prohibited Uses — Software and Technical

You must not:

• ✕Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the App
• ✕Modify, translate, or create derivative works of the App software
• ✕Remove, bypass, or circumvent any technical protection measures within the App, including licence enforcement, content protection, or authentication mechanisms
• ✕Distribute, sell, sublicence, rent, lease, or lend the App to any third party
• ✕Use the App on a device that has been jailbroken (iOS) or rooted (Android) in a manner that circumvents platform security controls
• ✕Inject code into the App or attempt to interfere with its operation
• ✕Use the App to develop or test competing products or services

5. Prohibited Uses — Mesh Networking Feature

The peer-to-peer mesh networking feature must not be used to:

• ✕Transmit unlawful, harassing, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable content
• ✕Transmit unsolicited bulk communications of any kind
• ✕Impersonate another person or entity
• ✕Transmit malware, viruses, or any other malicious code
• ✕Intercept, eavesdrop on, or attempt to decrypt communications intended for other users
• ✕Conduct or facilitate illegal surveillance or stalking
• ✕Coordinate or facilitate any illegal activity
• ✕Deliberately degrade the mesh network performance for other users

6. Prohibited Uses — Dead Man's Switch and Safety Burst

These communication features carry specific responsibilities because they can trigger emergency responses from your contacts. You must not:

• ✕Deliberately trigger false distress signals or false safety status reports using Safety Burst
• ✕Configure the Dead Man's Switch in a manner intended to generate unnecessary false alarms
• ✕Use either feature to harass, alarm, or cause distress to any person
• ✕Use either feature for any purpose other than genuine personal safety monitoring
• ✕Transmit false GPS coordinates

Note: Transmitting false distress signals may constitute a criminal offence in your jurisdiction and may result in criminal prosecution, civil liability, and the costs of any emergency response triggered.

7. Prohibited Uses — General Conduct

You must not use the App or Site to:

• ✕Violate any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation
• ✕Infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party
• ✕Engage in any activity that is harmful to minors
• ✕Engage in any fraudulent activity
• ✕Collect or harvest personal information about other users
• ✕Engage in any conduct that restricts or inhibits any other person from using or enjoying the App

8. Reporting Violations

If you become aware of any use of the App or its features that violates this AUP, or if you discover a security vulnerability, please report it to us promptly at support@thelastmanual.com. We take all reports seriously and will investigate appropriately.

9. Consequences of Violation

Violation of this AUP may result in: immediate termination of your App licence without refund; legal action to recover damages, including costs; referral of appropriate violations to law enforcement or regulatory authorities; and public disclosure of violations where required by law.
