Ask the field manual. The answer is grounded in the library on your phone.

On-device Ask the Manual: Gemma finds matching offline articles and writes a short answer. Free includes 5 messages. Premium is unlimited. No cloud chatbot.

§ 01

The direct answer

Ask the Manual is not a general chatbot and it is not a web search. It runs on the device, searches the survival library you have downloaded, and writes a short answer pointed at those articles. If the library is not on the phone, there is nothing to ask.

Free includes 5 messages, then it locks until Premium. Premium is unlimited. An optional on-device model download (Gemma) is what writes the prose; the retrieval step still works against the local index. There is no The Last Manual account and no prompt history uploaded to us.

Use it for “how do I treat a sprain in the field” while you still have a hand free — not as a substitute for emergency services. It will miss things. It will cite guides you should open and read. That is the point: a pointer into 4,900+ articles you already carry, not a doctor on a server you cannot reach.

§ 02
